Food and Fibre Insights

This self-paced, part-time course is designed for professionals who want to better understand the frontiers of New Zealand's food and fibre landscape.

Over six weeks, participants will gain a critical understanding of key topics such as the future of food nutrition; value chains, supply chains and logistics; bio-innovation and biotechnology; the critical role of freshwater and oceans in the global food system; food safety and provenance; and changing consumer needs.

Industry experts from KPMG and leading economists from the University of Waikato's Management School will deliver each of the six online sessions.

They will be joined by guest presenters Dr Julian Elder, CEO of Scion; Emma Wheeler, head of strategy at Trust Codes; Paul Martin, head of Retail UK; Volker Kuntzsch, CEO of the Cawthron Institute; Andrew Watene and Paulette Elliott from KPMG Propagate; and Justine Fitzmaurice from KPMG Management Consulting.

The course will be delivered in a blended format via videos, short readings and tests, so you can learn when it suits you (4-6 hours’ time commitment per week).

You will need to engage in a weekly online discussion workshop (Thursdays, 4pm-5.30pm), plus a half-day workshop.

Date: TBC, 2024
Venues: Online via blended learning and one face-to-face workshop in Hamilton.
